Our Editorial Promise
At Frugal Deals Hub, our goal is to help you find true value, not just low prices. That only works if you can trust our numbers. This page explains how we research products, check prices, reach our BUY / SKIP / DUPE verdicts, and keep our content accurate over time.
How We Check Prices
Every cost-per-unit comparison starts with real prices. When we check a price, we record:
- The date the price was checked, shown in the post
- The store — Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon, Walmart, Target, or another retailer
- The ZIP code or region for in-store and warehouse club prices, since these often vary by location
- Whether the price was online, in store, on sale, or required a membership
Prices change often. Your local price may differ from ours, so always confirm before you buy.
How We Calculate Value
We divide the price by the quantity to get a cost per unit — per ounce, per count, per load, or per serving, whichever makes the most sense. We compare like with like whenever possible and point out when sizes or formulas differ. We also consider practical factors: membership fees, shelf life, storage space, and whether a bulk size fits a typical household.
How We Reach a Verdict
- BUY means the product offers strong value for the money.
- SKIP means a better-value option exists or the deal isn’t what it seems.
- DUPE means a lower-cost alternative performs similarly to a name-brand product.
When we compare dupes, we look at ingredient lists, product specs, sizes, and, where noted, our own hands-on use. We’ll be clear about whether a conclusion is based on hands-on testing, label and spec comparison, or research.
Our Sources
We rely on primary and trustworthy sources, including:
- Retailer websites, apps, and in-store shelf tags
- Manufacturer product pages, labels, and ingredient lists
- Official recall and safety information from government agencies when relevant
- Hands-on use of products when we’ve purchased them
We link to sources where helpful so you can check them yourself.
Independence From Advertisers
We earn commissions through some affiliate links, but commissions never influence our verdicts. Costco pays us nothing, and we still recommend it when it’s the best value. Brands cannot pay for a verdict or review our content before it’s published. Any sponsored content or free products will be clearly disclosed. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Updates
We revisit popular comparisons regularly and update them when prices, sizes, or formulas change meaningfully. Updated posts show a “last updated” date along with the new price-check date. If an update changes a verdict, we’ll say so.
Corrections
We work hard to get things right, but mistakes happen. If you spot an error, an outdated price, or a change in a product, please email admin@frugaldealshub.com with the post link, the store, your ZIP code (optional), and the date you saw it. We review every report. When we correct a meaningful error, we fix it promptly and add a short note to the post explaining what changed.
Who Writes Our Content
Content on Frugal Deals Hub is written and reviewed by Darren. Every post is fact-checked against current store prices before it goes live, and the price-check date is shown in each post.
