Welcome to Frugal Deals Hub
Frugal Deals Hub exists for one simple reason: a low price tag doesn’t always mean a good deal. Our tagline says it best — True value, not just low prices. We help US shoppers figure out what’s actually worth buying at Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon, Walmart, and Target, so your money goes further without sacrificing quality.
Frugal Deals Hub is run by Darren, a value-obsessed shopper who got tired of “deals” that weren’t really deals. He started the site to do the math most shoppers don’t have time for: comparing real cost per unit across Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Target and Amazon, so you can buy smarter with confidence.

Our Mission
We want to make smart saving easy. Big-box stores, warehouse clubs, and online marketplaces all compete for your attention with “deals,” bulk packs, and sale banners. Some of those offers are genuinely great. Others only look cheap until you do the math. Our job is to do that math for you and explain it in plain language.
Our Cost-Per-Unit Method
The heart of everything we publish is the cost-per-unit comparison. Instead of comparing sticker prices, we break each product down to what you actually pay for what you actually get. Depending on the product, that might be:
- Price per ounce, pound, or fluid ounce for food and household goods
- Price per count for items like paper towels, diapers, batteries, or vitamins
- Price per load, use, or serving for detergents, coffee, and similar products
We also look at factors a unit price alone can’t show, such as membership fees, shelf life, whether you’ll realistically use a bulk size before it expires, and how quality compares between brands. Every comparison notes when and where prices were checked, because prices change and vary by location.
How Our BUY / SKIP / DUPE Verdicts Work
To keep things quick and clear, most of our reviews end with one of three verdicts:
- BUY — The product offers strong value for the money based on unit price, quality, and practicality. We think it’s a smart purchase.
- SKIP — The deal isn’t as good as it looks. The unit price may be higher than alternatives, the quality may not justify the cost, or the pack size may lead to waste.
- DUPE — A store brand or lesser-known alternative delivers similar results to a name-brand product for less. Think Kirkland Signature, Member’s Mark, Great Value, Up&Up, or Amazon Basics versus their name-brand counterparts.
A verdict is our honest opinion based on the information available at the time we checked. Your needs, household size, and local prices may lead you to a different choice, and that’s okay.
Our Independence
Frugal Deals Hub earns money through affiliate links with retailers including Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Sam’s Club. When you buy through some of our links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. You can read the details in our Affiliate Disclosure.
Here’s what matters most: commissions never decide our verdicts. Costco, for example, doesn’t pay us any commission — and we still recommend Costco whenever it offers the best value. If the best deal is at a store that pays us nothing, that’s the deal we’ll tell you about. Brands and retailers cannot pay for a BUY verdict or to change our conclusions.
